The difference shows up when you and your spouse still have to decide things.

MyPaperwork is a service of the Utah State Courts. divvi is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Utah State Courts. Utah does not allow divorce cases to be opened online, so both routes end with you filing the packet yourself.
Genuinely, and not as a rhetorical move — there are three situations where the courts’ tool is the right answer:
If custody, property, debts and support are settled between you and you only need the documents generated, MyPaperwork does that and asks nothing further of you.
MyPaperwork also covers protective orders, custody-only cases, name changes and guardianship. divvi does not. For any of those, MyPaperwork is where to go.
It is operated by the Utah State Courts. For credibility and for staying inside the court's own MyCase account, nothing beats that.
One practical note either way: MyPaperwork deletes your documents after seven days, so download and save them as soon as they are generated.
MyPaperwork is a form generator. It asks what you decided and writes it down. It does not help you decide, because it is not built to — the courts’ Self-Help Center is explicitly not permitted to give legal advice.
That gap is the whole of divvi: a guided parenting-plan builder rather than a blank field, an inventory that shows both sides of a property split, a library of Utah decree provisions to choose from, and both spouses working in one case and signing it, rather than one spouse typing terms the other has not seen.
Neither tool files for you. Utah requires a self-represented party to file the divorce themselves — that is a court rule, not a limitation either product could remove. You pay the court’s $358 filing fee either way.

OCAP — the Online Court Assistance Program — was Utah's original online form generator and charged $20. It has been retired and replaced by MyPaperwork, which lives inside the courts' MyCase system and is free. If a guide or article still tells you to use OCAP, it is out of date.
Use MyPaperwork if you already know your terms and only need the forms produced, or if your case is a protective order, name change or guardianship — MyPaperwork covers those and divvi does not. Use divvi if you and your spouse still have to work out custody, property, debts or support, because that deciding is the part MyPaperwork does not help with.
No — not through MyPaperwork, not through divvi, not through anyone. Utah court rules require a self-represented party to file a divorce themselves, by mail, by email or in person. Any service promising to e-file your divorce is describing something the rules do not allow.
